Vega: Results of the VV15 Analysis and Return to Flight in 1Q 2020

Avio S.p.A. announces that the Independent Inquiry Commission established on the 11th of July 2019 with the target of identifying the likely causes of the Vega launcher flight VV15 failure and to indicate an operating plan to resume flight activities, has published the results of its investigations.

Third 2019 Ariane 5 Flight Successfully Completed

Intelsat 39 and EDRS-C satellites orbited.

The third 2019 flight (105th mission overall) of the Ariane 5 launcher took place successfully during the night of the 6th of August from the Guyana Space Center (CSG) spaceport. The European launcher correctly orbited the Intelsat 39 and EDRS-C satellites, that will provide TV broadcast and in-orbit telecommunication services for LEO satellites respectively.

Vega VV15

Approximately two minutes after the Vega launcher’s liftoff, shortly after ignition of the second stage (Zefiro 23), a launcher anomaly occurred – leading to the premature end of the mission.

Data analyses are in progress to clarify the reasons for this failure.  An independent inquiry commission will be set up in the coming hours.

New Success for Vega: 14th Launch, an All-Italian Mission

Colleferro, 22 Marzo 2019 – Italy is behind tonight’s 14th successful VEGA space launcher mission, built by Avio. At about 3AM tonight, the rocket produced in Colleferro, near Rome, took off from the space base in French Guiana, bringing into orbit the PRISMA satellite, owned by the Italian Space Agency and built by a group of companies headed by OHB Italia, with Telespazio and Leonardo.

Vega: Twelfth Consecutive Success with Launch of Aeolus

Kourou (French Guiana), August 22, 2018 – Vega, the European launcher designed, developed and constructed in Italy by Avio, has successfully concluded its first mission of 2018, correctly placing in orbit the ESA’s Aeolus satellite.

This represents Vega’s twelfth consecutive success since its first mission of February 2012. The European launcher again demonstrates its major reliability: for the first time in fact, a new launcher has had its first 12 launches without issue or anomaly.

4 GALILEO SATELLITES PUT INTO ORBIT

Colleferro, July 25, 2018 - Ariane 5 successfully undertakes its third mission of 2018, correctly positioning in orbit four satellites for Europe’s Galileo project.  

Galileo is a European satellite navigation and localization system, designed for civil use and capable of providing highly precise positioning indications. Once in orbit the entire Galileo constellation will comprise 24 operative satellites.

JAPANESE AND ENGLISH SATELLITES ARE PLACED IN ORBIT

Colleferro, 06 April 2018 - Ariane 5 has successfully completed its second mission of 2018, correctly positioning two satellites in orbit: DSN-1/Superbird-8 and HYLAS 4.

DSN-1/Superbird 8 is a telecommunications satellite for Japanese operator SKY Perfect JSAT. Equipped with high-performance relay systems, the satellite will mainly provide telecommunication services for the Japanese market.
