Colleferro (Rome), 23 December 2024 – On December 18th in Paris Avio has signed the ESA Zero Debris Charter, the Agency’s ambitious revision of its internal space debris mitigation requirements that builds on more than a decade of ESA-wide collaborative work and will drive the development of technologies required to become debris-neutral by 2030.
Paris, December 18th 2024 – Today ESA signed multiple contracts with Avio to advance the development of its next-generation launcher, Vega-E, and to increase the number of flights per year of the Vega-C rocket.
Two contracts were signed between ESA and Avio, amounting to approximately EUR 350 million and covering a three-year time horizon:

The payload was put into a sun-synchronous orbit (SSO) at an altitude of 700 kilometers 1 hour and 43 minutes after lift-off.

Rome, June 29, 2022 – Today the first two contracts of Italy’s implementation of the “Next Gen EU” initiatives for Space were awarded to Avio. In the past few months, the Italian Government had decided to invest around 340M€ to improve the technological capability of the Italian industry for “Access to Space”, entrusting the European Space Agency (ESA) as the Contracting Authority with the supervision of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Italian Space Agency and the Ministry of Innovation & Digital Transformation.

Today Arianespace and the European Space Agency have announced the closing of the contract to launch the Biomass earth observation satellite with Vega.
The Earth Explorer Biomass mission will provide global maps of the amount of carbon stored in forests worldwide, mainly through the analysis of carbon dioxide release due to fossil fuels consumption and deforestation. Biomass also will provide essential support to United Nations treaties on the reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.
Colleferro 13 November 2018 – Today in Colleferro Avio successfully tested the prototype of the new M10 liquid oxygen-methane engine, developed by Avio in partnership with the European Space Agency within the Vega E (Vega Evolution) program. The prototype is a scaled model of the third stage propulsion engine which will equip the Vega launcher starting from 2024.
