Colleferro (Rome), 23 December 2024 – On December 18th in Paris Avio has signed the ESA Zero Debris Charter, the Agency’s ambitious revision of its internal space debris mitigation requirements that builds on more than a decade of ESA-wide collaborative work and will drive the development of technologies required to become debris-neutral by 2030.

Marino Fraginito, Avio Chief Commercial Officer commented: “Avio is fully committed to a zero debris space environment. The Vega family rockets have been designed to systematically de-orbit all launcher components after launch, including the AVUM upper stage which systematically performs a re-entry burn to leave the orbit clean after satellite deployment. We are one of the very few launcher manufacturers and launch providers in the world to implement such re-entry strategy for all missions. We are very happy to have signed the Zero Debris Charter with ESA which testimony the high importance we attach to a clean space environment, which is the basis for a sustainable exploitation of outer space for the benefit of all mankind.”
